The Mississippi Reading Fair was held on our campus on Tuesday, April 19th. Students from all across the state of Mississippi were here to compete. One of our very own, Mr. Andrew Love (senior), advanced to the state level and won 3rd place! Congratulations to Andrew on his accomplishment. We are PROUD!

I am pleased to inform all parents, alumni, and stakeholders that the Championship Football and Girls Basketball teams traveled to our state capitol this morning where they were present on the floor of the House of Representatives while a resolution was read applauding their athletic successes for the 2015-2016 school year. I would like to thank Mr. Steve Massengill for his dedication to bringing this resolution to fruition. Please join us in congratulating our athletes and their coaches (Coach Gordon Weir and Coach Holly Reichle) on this success as well as their recognition at the Mississippi State Capitol.
We regret to inform you that the 2016 Spring Exhibition has been cancelled due to the unexpected resignation of the coordinator. Please look forward to this event being held in conjunction with the 2016 Homecoming.
The Academic Bowl team and coaches are on the way to the Kentucky School for the Deaf in Danville, KY to compete in the Gallaudet Southeast Regional Academic Bowl Meet from February 25th-27th. MSD has competed in the Academic Competition for 18 years.
Our Academic Bowl team is: Jaleah Dortch (Senior), Jasmine McCray (Senior), Shakeedra Hubbard (Junior) and Ricky Church (Senior). This team is coached by Ms. Kitty Love and Mrs. Gale Hartling.

The Academic Bowl for Deaf and Hard of Hearing High School students was established with the goal of fostering the pursuit of academic excellence, promoting a spirit of academic competition and sportsmanship, and providing social opportunities for the development of collegiality and lifelong friendships.
Every year, Gallaudet University hosts five Regional competitions for up to 90 teams of Deaf and Hard of Hearing high school students. 24 teams will then advance to the National competition held at Gallaudet every year.
